Access Statement

We at Langley Castle are very aware that due to the unique fabric and layout of the Castle and our Grade 1 listing that we need to ensure we are committed to providing accessibility for all guests. We currently offer:

Transport

  • Designated parking bay – approximately 10 metres from the front door
  • Porterage service for luggage or cars
  • No steps to main entrance – please note a recessed mat immediately on entering the Castle
  • Ground level throughout the reception area

Main Entrance/Reception Facilities

  • Reception opening times 8am until 12.00pm
  • Night Manager emergency cover from 12pm to 8am – Please dial 240 for immediate assistance
  • The reception desk entrance may be used by wheelchair users ie, no counter therefore a clipboard shall be used
  • A portable loop system is available for the deaf and hard of hearing
  • The floor in the reception and lobby is level throughout
  • The ladies and gents toilets are situated on the ground floor of the foyer to the right of the entrance
  • A public phone is situated near the entrance of the cloakroom on the left hand site alternatively the phone on the reception desk may be used and charged to your room.
  • All areas in the foyer are well lit
  • All doors with the exception of the cubicle doors in the ladies and gents toilets on the ground floor are more than 750mm wide.

Other Public Areas

  • Access to the Stuart Suite on the third floor of the Castle is gained via the service lift. Guests shall be accompanied by a member of staff in order to use this facility. The service lift gives access to guest bedrooms within the Castle with the exception of rooms 6, 7, and 9.
  • All floors are on the level with the exception of room 4 which has one step in the bathroom up to the bath
  • The Drawing Room is situated on the first floor of the Castle access may be via the service elevator or up the main staircase one floor. There are three short flights of stairs broken by two landings.
  • The portable induction loop may be used in any of our Public areas

Accommodation

  • The De Lucy Room, Room 2 has been designated for disabled access. This is situated on the first floor of the Castle near to the service lift (5 m) and close to the Drawing Room (7m).
  • Good contrast to floor, walls and doorways
  • Walk in shower with bathing stool provided
  • Seat riser and portable rail for the toilet
  • Assistance dogs are welcome and are free to use the grounds for a “free run”.
  • Waiter/ess and room service is available from 8am until 11.00pm
  • A telephone is provided in each guest bedroom with a telephone also provided in the bathroom
  • A television with sky and text is provided in each room
  • A cordless kettle and tea tray is provided
  • Additional lighting may be provided if necessary
  • Ensure that there is at least one menu available in large print and offer to read the menu if appropriate
  • A Guest bedroom browser will be provided in the room in large print

Restaurant

  • Spacious with a variety of seating arrangements
  • Carver chairs available
  • Ensure that there is at least one menu available in large print and offer to read the menu if appropriate
  • Special Dietary requirements catered for
  • Bench seating available in the grounds on level ground

Other

  • A number of staff have completed Welcome All training
  • Mobile phone networks are available only in certain areas of the Castle due to the thickness of the walls
