We at Langley Castle appreciate the difficulties in planning and organizing a wedding reception. Let us help take the strain away with our handy planner with advice and checklist.
Things to do;
- Plan your budget ~ It is important that you divide you money in areas that are most important to you. You may find it useful to open a separate bank account for all wedding items, it also may be a good area to save
- Book your venue and also your ceremony ~ Decide where you would like a church wedding, a registry office civil ceremony or a ceremony at Langley Castle.
- Look into taking out wedding insurance ~ For peace of mind against unexpected cancelation, damage to dresses, cake etc. Most are very reasonably priced and run from when you start the policy until after the reception.
- Find a photographer ~ Many good photographers get booked as early as venues, decide whether you would like traditional or contemporary photographs and it’s always worth shopping around.
- Choose a wedding dress ~ Many brides will already know the style of dress they want for there special day. Now’s the time to visit some shops, try on some dresses or perhaps have a dress made especially for you.
- Wedding cars ~ For those having a church marriage you will need transportation to and from your venue. Whether you would like a classic car, a horse drawn carriage or a stretch limousine.
- Book your honeymoon ~ Whether it’s the English Lakes or the Maldives, book your honeymoon early to avoid disappointment. You may wish to leave a day after your wedding before you travel to prevent rushing
- Think about your musical entertainment ~ If you are having a civil ceremony why not use live music from a Harpist or String quartet. Perhaps you have Scottish or Northumbrian roots and require a piper. For a lively evening reception Bands, Discos and Ceilidh band or order of the day.
- Choose a wedding cake ~ Square, round, fruit, chocolate, the possibilities and styles are endless. Perhaps you may even consider a cake of cheese, made up of three tiers of your choice of cheese then either served as an additional course or as part of your evening buffet.
- Order your flowers ~ Bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, button holes for the guests, floral arrangements for your ceremony and your venue. Don’t forget your gifts for parents and friends.
- Choose and order your wedding rings ~ Gold, silver or maybe platinum. Find a style you both like and get your fingers sized and rings ordered in sufficient time
- Select your stationery ~ Day and evening invitations will be required for your guests. Placecards, menus and table plans will be required closer to your big day, once the R.S.V.Ps have arrived and food has been chosen
- Order your favours ~ There are many choices of favours for your guests, Langley Castle could supply you will Langley Castle chocolate or perhaps engraved glasses. Not forgetting Langley Castle Teddy Bears for the children
- Suit Hire ~ From frock coats to morning suits, the groom, bestman, and fathers in particular will require formalwear for the big day. You may also need suits for ushers and pageboys on the day.
- Hair and make-up ~ The Bride and Bridesmaids must look there best on the big day. Professional hair and make-up artists will be happy to come to the Castle and help the bridal party get ready.
- Choose your menus ~ Selecting a menu to suit everybody’s taste is not that easy. You may be torn between dishes or would like to sample them in our restaurant. You wedding co-ordinator would only be to happy to discuss and advise throughout your selection process
- Drinks ~ Langley Castle Hotel has no package for table wine and reception drinks, they will allow the Bride ad Groom to make a package to suit them. We will be only too happy to advise on a variety of drinks and quantities required during the day
