Enjoy the Ultimate Castle Christmas or New Year

Ensure a fabulous fairytale Christmas or New Year, in a true English castle voted the ‘Best Hotel for Romance’ this year, by heading to breathtaking Langley Castle in Northumberland.

Langley, dating from 1350, is a venue in which you can imagine yourself a queen or king of the castle in medieval times or indulge your Game of Thrones addiction.  You can lounge in your four-poster bed during your festive break, wander the 10-acre grounds to walk off the pud, or curl up in the drawing room in front of a roaring log fire.

With sweeping drapes framing leaded windows, sparkling chandeliers, rich decor, battlements, luxurious rooms and must-try window seats set into seven-foot thick walls (including stones dragged from Hadrian’s Wall, Langley is truly the castle of your dreams, with a unique ambience and an impressive back-story.

A choice of luxurious rooms is available for festive breaks, allowing you to choose whether to stay inside the castle, for the full regal experience, or in the more modern surrounds of Castle View, a short walk away in the converted stables. This will enable you to dreamily gaze up at the castle as you throw back the curtains in the morning, creating a perfect picture for your social media posts, particularly if a frost has created a crisp Northumbrian morning.

A two-day Christmas break, overnighting on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, includes cocktails and dinner on Christmas Eve, breakfast on Christmas Day followed by a sumptuous lunch a few hours later, and a hot and cold buffet in the evening, if you can manage it.  You will then be treated to another full Northumbrian breakfast before departing on the 26th.  This experience is priced from £490 to £630 per person, depending upon accommodation choice.

A three-day Christmas break is also available, with a Boxing Day evening meal and breakfast on the morning of the 27th included.  This costs between £695 per person and £945 per person.  This may give you a few extra hours in which to explore the local area, perhaps visiting Hadrian’s Wall, or medieval Hexham Abbey, just a short drive away.

A two-night New Year’s Eve stay starts with afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream and jam, on the afternoon of December 31.  Pre-dinner cocktails are then served, as knights in shining armour look on, before guests enjoy a six-course gourmet taster dinner menu served in Langley’s Stuart Suite.  There, guests can let their hair down and enjoy music from King of Swing Paul Martin, taking to the dance floor before they see in the New Year.

To allow everyone to recover from their revelling, it’s brunch rather than breakfast the next morning, with a chance to then be at leisure until cocktail and canapé time and then dinner.  This high-spirited experience in England’s Border Country costs between £215 and £265 per person per night, based on two people sharing a double room.

If you wish to linger at Langley longer, you can extend a stay before or after the nights covered by these packages for a little as £99.50pppn, inclusive of dinner and breakfast.

Head to www.langleycastle.com to check out the rooms and book your preference or call the castle on 01434 688888 to enjoy a festive break with memories for a lifetime.
