Starry Knights not astronomically priced
Castle’s ‘Starry Knight’ Star-Gazing Package Is Not Astronomically Priced
Treat the love of your life to an evening of romance under the stars, by gifting him or her a night’s stay in a luxurious 14th century, authentic castle hotel, along with a stellar star-gazing experience taking place just 11 days after Valentine’s Day.
Langley Castle, based in rural Langley-on-Tyne near Hexham, Northumberland – the North East Hotel of the Year – has created a Starry Knights extravaganza that can claim to be possibly the best in the ‘dark sky’ galaxy.
On Monday, February 25, those booking this package will be treated to a three-course meal in the 2AA Rosette restaurant, before heading out, by dead of night, to the Kielder Observatory, with a transfer by luxury coach.
The Observatory is located in Kielder Forest, in the Northumberland international Dark Sky Park – the largest area of protected night sky in Europe and the third largest protected Dark Sky reserve in the world. With the absence of light pollution, those booked on this Starry Knights package will be able to see an abundance of stars, with the skies here being so dark that the Milky Way, and even Jupiter, have been known to cast shadows.
This magical and inspiring experience is sure to leave the group spellbound, particularly as 85% of the UK population has never actually seen a dark sky. Despite the awesome sense of wonder this will invoke, and then a ‘nibbler’s delight’ cheeseboard and warming snifter awaiting them back at Langley Castle, this incredible journey to the stars is not astronomically priced.
For just £295, starry-eyed lovers – and others just compelled to view what is out there in the galaxy – can book a room for two people (sharing a double bed) for just £295. This price includes the three-course meal, the trip to the Kielder Observatory, the late-night snack on return and a full Northumbrian breakfast the next day.
However, to get guests closer to the skies above the following morning, star gazers will be treated to the daily Langley Castle Battlement Tour, taking place at 10.15am.
The premier rooms at Langley – the feature and deluxe rooms within the castle – are available for booking at this rate, on a first-come-first-served basis. Once these are filled, other accommodation will be in the Castle View rooms, in the converted stable block in the grounds, just 80 metres from the castle. Additional nights can be booked for £99 in Castle View.
