Wedding Dresses

It’s always a great joy for the team at Langley Castle to view the array of wedding dresses that we’re privileged enough to see at our incredible castle weddings and, after 30 years of planning sumptuous weddings for couples from around the world, we’ve seen far too many wedding dress trends to even mention.

Wedding dress trends for 2018 range from the relaxed bra-less and backless dress, to high couture dresses with eye-catching features such as Bardot-sleeve capes and spaghetti straps, not to mention dramatic Vera Wang voluminous creations that would just look incredible on our impressive, regal staircase.

Whilst you might think, given that our stunning castle has been standing in the Northumberland landscape for over six centuries, that we’d most like to see the traditional wedding ballgown dress from a bridal designer like Peter Langner or Heidi Elnora, or perhaps favour one of the new floral-coloured dresses from Paolo Sebastian, Naeem Khan or Marco & Maria, we’ve a secret confession to make.  We’re actually on tenterhooks wondering when we’ll see our first bride in one of the on-trend bridal trouser suits designed by fashion genii such as Amanda Wakeley and Savannah Miller.

The wedding jumpsuit or trouser suit is such an incredible expression of ‘this is who I am’ and puts such a dramatic statement into the wedding ceremony that it just can’t be ignored.  So many women just feel totally uncomfortable in dresses and skirts, in an age when we spend most of our time in our jeans or slacks, that donning a dress is the very last thing they want to do, when wedding day nerves are enough to contend with as it is.

It’s not as though you have to abandon your fashion principles by wearing wedding trousers, whether you go for a two-piece, or an all-in-one, for your wedding outfit. Some of the outfits coming out of fashion houses like Lela Rose are just stunning and quirky, with lovely features such as beading down the outer leg and neckline and a real 1950s-feel to the styling and shape.

Maybe it’s because we can envisage knights of old floating around our amazing chandeliered Drawing Room, or because we boast a few suits of armour here, but the outfit that always springs to mind when it comes to what we’d love to see at a Langley wedding for the first time, is this stunning caped and lace-trouser creation by Elio Abou Fayssal bridal.  The very thought of it framed by our incredible Drawing Room window just gives us goosebumps.  Check it out here

Of course, whatever you plump for is absolutely fine by us.  At Langley Castle, we make your wedding day the way you want it.  All you need do is tell us what that is and we’ll do the rest, leaving you to determine whether you want to be more Audrey Hepburn than Solange, or vice versa.
