Margaret Livingstone-Evans

Margaret Livingstone-Evans - General Manager

Like a lot of young people Margaret didn’t know exactly what she wanted to do when she grew up, however once she started working in hotels she was smitten, and has enjoyed working in them ever since - 42 years to be exact!

Margaret has been happily married for 34 years to her husband Michael, who is also a hotel manager. They have two children, Jonathan & Katie both of whom she is extremely proud.  She enjoys holidays abroad when she gets some rare time off, and one of her favourite restaurants is Sonny at Rialto's' which is in her home town of Ponteland, she says he is a superb host and makes you feel valued - traits which she knows only to well.

Moving within Swallow, and Scottish & Newcastle Hotels, for a combined period of 28 years has meant that Margaret's work has seen her take on jobs in hotels all over the country, and she can now claim to have worked in 10 different counties, including: London, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Jersey & Yorkshire to name but a few.

She has also worked in some of the countries finest hotels including The Strand in London, Hartford Hall in Cheshire and Eshot Hall & Edman House (both part of the Robert Parker Collection).  She also spent many years working with her husband, most notably when they opened the Swallow Hotel in Northampton together.

Margaret loves a challenge, and takes a huge amount of pleasure in taking over a hotel and putting her mark on it, implementing the skills and knowledge that she has learned over her long and varied career.  No one day in the hotel industry is the same, and this is something which always keeps her excited and motivated on a daily basis.

Her love for her home county of Northumberland has finally seen her return to her roots and she is ready to take on her new challenge at Langley Castle, having started the position in January 2019.
